The quota game
How scoring and the weekly quota adjustment work
Each hole earns quota points based on your score vs par. The default scale is: eagle or better 8, birdie 4, par 2, bogey 1, double bogey or worse 0 — and you can change every one of these (see Games & tournaments → point values).
A player’s quota is their target for the day. Finish above it and you “beat quota”; below and you missed it. After each round the app adjusts every player’s quota automatically for next week and records it, so quotas self‑calibrate over the season — no handicaps to maintain.
Default adjustment rule (all configurable): finish +3 or better → quota rises by 50% of the amount over; finish −3 or worse → quota drops by 1; anything in between holds. A minimum quota floor (default 18) means a quota never drops below it.
Games & tournaments
League tab → “Manage tournaments”. This is where you set up everything about play and money.
Everything here is a default that each new round starts with. You can tweak any single round on its event page, so leave these set the way you play most weeks.
Holes per round (9 or 18)
Set to 9 for a 9-hole league (a 9-hole course, or a nine-only night). Scoring, quotas, skins, deuce, closest-to-pin and the team game all use just the first 9 holes, and the scorecard shows 9. Enter each player's quota as a 9-hole number — roughly half an 18-hole quota (about 18 instead of 36). Nassau isn't offered on 9-hole rounds. Applies to rounds you create after changing it.
The money games
Turn on the ones you play. For each, the pot = buy‑in × the players who actually play that day.
Quota pot (individual)
Everyone antes the buy‑in. Choose the payout: Per + quota point splits the pot by how far players finish over quota, or Winner takes all gives it to the player who beat quota by the most (ties split). Either way, if nobody beats quota, players who exactly met it split it; if nobody met it, the money rolls into the skins pot.
Deuce pot
A pot for gross 2s. Split per deuce (multiple 2s count). If no 2s are made, the pot carries over to next week automatically.
Skins — type (Gross / Handicap net)
Choose whether skins are played on gross scores or net (handicap) scores. Lowest unique score on a hole wins a skin; the pot is split by total skins won (no carryover).
Skins — Canadian (checkbox)
When on, if two players tie on net, the one with the lower gross takes the skin (“gross beats a tied net”). Off = a net tie just cancels the skin.
Skins — handicap %
For net skins, how much of each player’s handicap to apply (e.g. 50% = half‑handicap skins, 100% = full). Strokes fall on the hardest holes by the course’s hole‑handicap order.
Team game (best N 18‑hole quota scores)
Teams compete on the sum of their best N players’ full 18‑hole quota result (points over/under their own quota — not hole‑by‑hole). Pick how many count (best 1–4). Teams can be a whole foursome or split into 2‑man teams — see “Team pairings” under Running an event. On the leaderboard each team shows its players’ last names so everyone knows who’s who.
Team game — payout places (% per place)
Enter one percentage per paying place: 100 = winner takes all, 60,30,10 pays the top three. Ties pool the tied places and split evenly.
Team game — Nassau (checkbox)
Splits the team pot into three equal bets — front 9, back 9, and total 18 — each paid out by your places. Each nine uses half of each player’s quota (an odd quota like 31 counts as 15.5 per side).
Closest to the pin
A pot spread evenly across every par‑3. On the event page you pick the winner of each par‑3 from a dropdown, and the app splits the pot accordingly (win two par‑3s, collect two shares).
Payout rounding & the side pot
Round payouts down to whole dollars (checkbox)
When on, each payout is floored to a whole dollar and the leftover cents accumulate into a side pot (below). Off = pay exact amounts.
Spare change goes to
Choose where the leftover cents (and the weekly contribution) build up: the hole‑in‑one pot or an end‑of‑year pot.
Weekly contribution to that pot ($/player)
An optional per‑player amount added to that pot every week (e.g. $1–$2 to grow a hole‑in‑one jackpot). The hole‑in‑one pot pays out automatically to anyone who makes a gross 1, then resets.
Quota adjustment rules
Some groups adjust differently — set your house rules here.
Move up at finish of (+N)
The result at or above which a player’s quota rises (e.g. +2 or +3).
Move up by (% of overage)
How much the quota rises — a percentage of how far over quota they finished (e.g. 50% = up by half the amount over; 100% = up by the full amount).
Move down at finish of (−N) & Move down by
The result at or below which a quota drops, and how many strokes it drops.
Minimum quota (floor)
A player’s quota will never fall below this (default 18).
Points per hole result
Set the quota points for each result — hole‑in‑one, double eagle, eagle, birdie, par, bogey, double bogey, and triple‑bogey‑or‑worse. A hole‑in‑one uses its own value no matter the hole’s par.
Saved tournaments
Reusable game bundles
Save a named set of games + buy‑ins (e.g. “Skins Saturday”, “Member‑Guest”). On any event you can apply one in a single tap from the “Games this round” card — it sets the right games and buy‑ins instantly.
Courses
Default course
Set par and the hole‑handicap (stroke index) for each hole. Every new round starts from this. Hole handicaps are what net skins use to allocate strokes.
Saved courses
If you rotate between courses, save each once. On any event you can load one with a tap instead of re‑entering pars.
Players
Players tab — your roster
Name / Email
Email is used for the weekly one‑click signup, scoring links, and results emails. A player with no email simply won’t receive those.
Starting quota
The player’s points target. The app adjusts it automatically each week. A common starting point is 36 − handicap (a 12 handicap → 24; a +2 → 38).
GHIN # (optional) & Course handicap
Optional. The course handicap is used only for net skins and never affects the quota. Leave it blank to use the automatic default of 36 − quota (a player at 36+ plays scratch).
New‑player cap (+2 max payout)
On by default for new players. It caps their quota‑pot payout at +2 over quota for their first two rounds (they can still post a big number — it just won’t pay beyond +2, which protects the field). It auto‑unchecks after two completed rounds. Uncheck it now for someone joining mid‑season who’s already played more than twice.
Season winnings so far ($)
Optional — only if your league started mid‑season. Enter each player’s prior winnings and it seeds the season money list, added on top of everything won in the app from here on. Leave 0 for a fresh league.
The add form clears after each save, so you can add players one after another. Tap a roster row to edit anyone.
Managers & access
League tab
Managers (co‑managers)
Add another person by email so they can run the league when you’re away — enter scores, close weeks, manage games. They sign in with their own account (no approval needed) and can be removed anytime. They can’t delete the league or manage the manager list.
Sign‑in & password
Set a password so you can sign in without waiting for an email code. You can always fall back to a one‑time code.
Start a new season
When it's time for next year, clone this league into a fresh one in a click — it copies your players, games, rules, point values, courses and saved tournaments, and carries each player's season‑ending quota over as their new starting quota. Season money resets to $0; this league stays untouched.
Danger zone → Delete league
Permanently deletes the league and everything in it. As a safety step you must type the league’s exact name and confirm a pop‑up. Owner‑only.
Signups (auto‑close)
Optionally close the one‑click “I’m in” email links a set number of days before each round. You can always still mark players in by hand on the event page.
Running an event
Rounds tab
Create round
Give it a label (e.g. “Week 5”) and date. It starts from your league’s course and game defaults — both editable on the event page.
Weekly signup emails
Tap “Send signup emails” to email every rostered player a one‑click “I’m in” link. Clicking it adds them to this week’s field automatically. A second button, “Second‑chance reminder,” re‑sends only to players who haven’t signed up yet.
Who’s playing / Mark in
See who’s in, invited, or out. Mark players in by hand if needed, and assign each to a group with the dropdown.
Apply a saved course / tournament
On the event page you can load a saved course (par + hole handicaps) or apply a saved tournament (which games + buy‑ins) with one tap.
Groups & scorekeepers
Create a group per tee time and name it however you like (many name them by tee time). Each group gets its own private scoring link. Tap “Email scoring links to groups” to send every player the whole day’s lineup — with a big Enter scores button on their own group only.
Team pairings (when the team game is on)
Keep one scorekeeper per foursome and still play 2‑man teams. When the team game is enabled, each group box shows a Team A/B/C/D dropdown next to every player. Leave them all blank to play the whole group as one team, or set two players to Team A and two to Team B for two 2‑man teams inside that tee time. Team names on the leaderboard show the players’ last names, so groups named by tee time are still easy to identify.
Blind draws (uneven teams)
When the numbers don’t divide evenly and a team is short a player, use the “blind draw for →” dropdown under a player to also enter them on the short team. Their full 18‑hole score then counts for both teams, and they share in the winnings from either team. Set it back to “none” to remove it. Blind‑draw players are marked with “(BD)” on the team leaderboard.
Scoring
Whoever has a group’s link can enter that group’s scores hole‑by‑hole, no sign‑in needed. The +/− stepper starts at par for fast entry, and scores save as you tap. If someone was scored by mistake and didn’t actually play, tap “Clear scores (didn’t play)” on that player — it wipes their entire 18‑hole card and drops them from the player count and every pot.
Live leaderboard
The event page and the public board update on their own while the round is open — a “Live · synced” stamp shows the last update and new scores appear within about 15 seconds, with a Refresh button if you want it instantly. Tap any player to expand their hole‑by‑hole card, with golf symbols and a quota‑points row plus Out/In/Total sums.
Game result cards
Each active game (quota pot, deuce, skins, team, closest‑to‑pin, hole‑in‑one) shows its own live results and payouts as scores come in.
Finalizing & results
Closing the week and sending it out
Close week (Confirm & adjust quotas)
When play is done, review the preview of quota changes, then confirm. This locks the round, applies every player’s new quota for next week, records the money won, carries the deuce pot if unclaimed, and awards the hole‑in‑one pot if someone aced. If any scorecard is unfinished (fewer than 18 holes, or no scores at all), a warning lists those players first so you don’t finalize mid‑round by accident.
No‑shows are dropped automatically
Only players who posted at least one hole count toward any pot. Someone marked in who never played is left out of the buy‑in count and payouts, so the pot always balances.
Email results
One tap emails the whole roster a “RESULTS” message with all the leaderboards, everyone’s new quota for next week, the current hole‑in‑one pot, and the season money list. You can re‑send anytime (e.g. after a correction).
Today's winnings & season money
Once finalized, the event page leads with a Today's winnings summary — each player's total across every game, so you never add up purses by hand — followed by the season money list (season total per player). Both also appear in the results email.
Reopen / edit / delete a round
Need to fix something after closing? Reopen the week — it cleanly reverses that week’s quota changes and the hole‑in‑one pot so you can edit and re‑close. Closing only ever applies one set of adjustments, so reopening and re‑closing can’t double‑count quotas or pot money. You can also edit a round’s label/date or delete it entirely.
